About Us<\/h3>

The name HOCHKANT implies the passion for kidnapping people from their everyday lives, forgetting them and taking them into a world full of fantasy.<\/p>\n

The artists want to inspire, seduce and also make you laugh.<\/p>\n

The group enjoys traveling nationally and internationally with their fantasy characters and shows.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>

The members<\/h4>\n

Three fire artists and over fifteen Stilt artists<\/a> form the team:<\/p>\n

Kerstin Brust, Sophie Fallm\u00fcller, Sara Jaun, Johanna Kirstein, Max Krause, Wiebke Lahmann, Rieke Mai, Tom Martens, Clara Molis, Luise Molis, Diana Nsalanga, Marieke Riese, Nina Scholz, Doorke Th\u00fcmmel and Fynn Wiedemann and as support Michaela Allendorf, Luciana Fazan, Luca Hobusch, Luca Estelle Horvath and Jutta S\u00f6renhagen.<\/p>\n

HOCHKANT is led by co-founder Nina Scholz. She is a stilt walker, percussionist\/musician, fire and light artist, (costume) designer and also a drum and percussion teacher and graphic designer and actually has a degree in cultural studies.<\/p>\n

As a child she mainly took piano, flute and ballet lessons and was a member of several choirs. In her youth she was a member of the Dancing Theater Wolfsburg. She started African drumming at the age of 17 and completed percussion training with Puma Hoberg (djemb\u00e9 and bass drums) and Anne Breick (including congas\/Cuba, Cajon, Brasil and pop). For 14 years she was a member of the modern dance company \u201cArs Saltandi\u201d. Hildesheim.<\/p>\n

In 2004 she founded HOCHKANT. Here she can combine her passions and continue to express herself creatively. She gives HOCHKANT her style with her costume creations, show concepts and choreographies.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section>

The history<\/h4>\n

In 2002, Nina Scholz started stilt walking together with her then fellow student and fellow drummer Antje K\u00f6hn, more out of fun and inspiration from other stilt groups. She made her first stilt appearances at the Feuervogel Theater. In 2004 the two called themselves \u201cHOCHKANT\u201d, actually only for the program of the Bremen Carnival, for which the first two costumes were created.<\/p>\n

After Antje moved to Frankfurt, Nina initially continued alone until the freelance dancer Barbara Pfundt joined her in 2005. For 8 years the two directed HOCHKANT, designed costumes, walked on stilts and performed their shows.<\/p>\n

Barbara Pfundt left in 2013.
